    Scope
The contractor shall furnish and install a complete isolated power system as indicated on the plans and specified herein.

    Codes and Standards
The isolated power system shall be designed and installed in accordance with the latest edition of the following codes and standards:

    • NFPA 99 "Health Care Facilities"
    • NFPA 70 "National Electrical Code"
    • UL Standard 1047 "Isolated Power System Distribution Equipment"
    • UL Standard 1022 "Line Isolation Monitors"
    Laser Isolated Power Panel
The Laser/X-Ray Isolated Power System shall be Model XTL as manufactured by PG LIFELINK. The system shall be UL Listed under Standard 1047, and shall incorporate the following features and components:
    1. Enclosure shall be a three-piece assembly consisting of back box, chassis and front trim. The back box shall be fabricated of galvanized steel in accordance with UL Standard 50, "Standard for Cabinets and Boxes" and shall be flush mounted, unless indicated otherwise, at the elevation shown on the plans. All internal electrical components shall be mounted on a galvanized steel chassis which bolts onto studs located in the back box. The front trim shall be made of 12-gauge stainless steel polished to a #4 satin finish and shall include a lockable door over the circuit breakers.

    2. Isolation Transformer shall be _______ phase (specify single or three), 60 Hz, ________ KVA (specify 5, 7.5, 10, 15 or 25) with _______ volt primary (specify 208, 220, 240, 277 or 480) and _______ volt secondary (specify 120, 208, 220 or 240). The transformer shall be of stacked core design with an electrostatic shield between the primary and secondary windings.

    3. Line Isolation Monitor shall be the PG LIFELINK Mark IV self-testing self-calibating LIM. It shall continuously monitor the impedence from each secondary conductor to ground without the use of switching circuitry and shall display the total hazard current of the system on an ammeter. The LIM shall be capable of detecting all combinations of resistive and capacitive faults whether they are balanced, unbalanced or hybrid. The LIM shall contribute less than 15 microamperes to the total hazard current of the system.

The LIM shall alarm when the total hazard current (THC) reaches a value of 5 milliamperes (mA). When the THC is less than 5 mA, a green light shall be illuminated indicating normal conditions. Should the THC reach 5 mA, a red light shall illuminate and a buzzer shall sound indicating an alarm. A silence switch shall be provided to quiet the buzzer while leaving the red light on. The LIM shall automatically reset to normal status when the fault condition is corrected.

The LIM shall also detect and signal an alarm if the ground connection to the LIM is broken. A momentary test switch shall be provided for periodic testing of the LIM circuitry.

The LIM shall be flush mounted on the front of the panel so that the LIM signals are clearly visible at all times. The LIM signals must not be obscured when the circuit breaker door is open.

The LIM shall be recognized under UL Standard 1022.

    4. Primary main circuit breaker shall be provided.

    5. Branch circuit breakers shall be amp _______ (specify), _______ pole (specify two or three), quantity ______ (specify maximum: 12 single phase / 6 three phase). Only Bolt-On Breakers will be considered. Each laser receptacle will have it's own branch circuit breaker for protection.

    6. Reference ground bus having 24 branch taps for #12 to #6 wires shall be provided.

    7. Control System: The Plug-Control System shall provide selective activation of each branch circuit by PG LIFELINK model number CLO-RS so only those circuits with a Laser/X-Ray Machine plugged in will be energized. The XTL panel will limit the number of energized outlets that can be on at any one time to _____ (specify number of circuits: maximum 4). The number of outlets that can be on at any one time will be field adjustable from one to four. All other circuits will remain off. A series of branch circuit contactors and relays shall be provided to control both the power and the LIM signals for each circuit. The line isolation monitor signals for each circuit shall also be controlled through the same panel. The remote LIM signals on the CLO-RS will have a meter and remote test switch.

    8. The XTL panel will also activate the Laser In Use Sign when the Receptacle circuit is selected for that room by opening the door of the CLO-RS. This will energize the PG LIFELINK model CLR-1 Laser In Use Relay box. When the door is shut on the CLO-RS it will turn off the Laser In Use Sign.
    Wiring
All Components within the isolation panel shall be pre-wired using low leakage type XHHW wire. A barriered compartment shall be provided for the incoming primary feeder and separation shall be maintained between grounded and ungrounded conductors. A terminal block shall be provided for connection of remote signal conductors.

All Branch Circuit Conductors of the isolated power system shall be stranded copper having a cross-linked polyethylene insulation, or equivalent with a dielectric constant of 3.5 or less. Type XHHW is suitable for this purpose. Each branch circuit conductor shall be color-coded in accordance with National Electrical Code. Wire pulling compound adversely affects the dielectric constant of conductor insulation and shall not be used when pulling the wire of the isolated power system. Use of dry talcum powder is permitted.

    Accessories
The following accessories are part of the isolated power system and are to be furnished where indicated on the plans.

Laser Outlet Module shall be Model CLO-RS. The module shall have a _________ amp (specify), NEMA Type receptacle mounted in an angular recessed compartment and shall include a Plug-Control interface switch. A door over the recessed compartment shall conceal the receptacle when not in use. The front trim shall be made of stainless steel polished to a #4 satin finish. The remote LIM signals consisting of green and red indication lights, panel meter, warning buzzer, micro-ammeter, test and silence switch shall be incorporated into the front trim. The outlet shall energize only when the door is opened and shall turn off when the door is closed.

Laser In Use Relay Assembly will be PG LIFELINK CLR-1 and control up to two Laser In Use Signs outside of the operating room. The Laser In Use Relay will operate in conjunction with the CLO-RS inside the operating room. When the door of the CLO-RS is opened the Laser In Use Relay contacts will close allowing 120 volt AC grounded power to light the Laser In Use Sign. When the door of the CLO-RS is closed the Laser In Use Relay will open turning off the Laser In Use Sign.

    Test and Certification
Upon completion of the installation, a qualified factory technician shall inspect and test the equipment to verify that it is properly installed and operating as specified. A field test report and written certification that the system was installed and operating properly shall be furnished. The factory technician shall also instruct the hospital personnel in the proper use and maintenance of the equipment.

    Approved Manufacturers
This specification is based on equipment manufactured by PG LIFELINK. Products of other manufacturers will be considered provided they are equal in all respects and request for approval is submitted in writing to the engineer at least 10 days prior to the bid date.
