To help reduce tension and stress during long tedious hours in operating rooms, hospital staff members often turn to music. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to determine whether the consumer devices they often bring with them for the purpose are double-insulated as required by NFPA 99 (Health Care Facilities) Section 8.4.1.2.1.1, or whether they meet the limitations for leakage current in Section 8.4.1.3.5. Additionally, they often produce stray signals that can interfere with sensitive patient-care equipment. And, these portable units are rarely sterilized, thus creating a further hazard of introducing a potential source of infection. Because of these hazards, most accrediting agencies suggest the removal of these units from operating rooms.

PG LIFELINK has developed a solution to this problem. We now offer a wide range of integrated stereo systems designed for installation inside the operating theater. Units are flush wall mounted on stainless steel faceplates and designed to be hardwired to one of our Isolated Power Systems. This allows for an unobtrusive and safe installation that meets all code requirements. Speaker modules are available for wall or ceiling mount and include stainless steel faceplates for better infection control. Standard features include AM/FM Stereo, CD, mp3 player connectivity, and remote control. USB ports, CD changers and i-Pod controllers can be added as options on any system.
